I am admittedly not a maven when it comes to fashion. I have my go-to pieces: flannels, wide necked “fancy” tshirts, skinny jeans, and plenty of stripes. I’m pretty content mixing and matching. When it comes out snowboard outerwear, though, the combination of style and technical function is right up my alley. I can spend hours checking out the details of a jacket and when I pack for a trip to the mountains, my kit is dialed down to the first layer in preparation of both freezing temperatures and sunny weather. Oakley is a company that has a strong investment in their women’s outerwear line. Far from “shrink it and pink it,” the fit, detailing, and comfort are paramount. Oakley’s Pro Rider Series is a collection of outerwear designed from the influence of their pro snowboard and ski team, on the women’s side, Gretchen Bleiler, Grete Eliassen, and Marie-France Roy. MFR’s jackets have been a style staple for the past few seasons, with a longer cut before it became trendy and her new gear for 2014 performs well in inclimate weather while looking good.
